(January 11) Lawsuit Filed Against Former West Lafayette Pastor Accused of Mishandling Child Sex Abuse

A civil lawsuit was filed last month against Jared Olivetti, the former West Lafayette pastor defrocked following an IndyStar investigation into allegations he and other church leaders mishandled reports of child sexual abuse.

The complaint, filed in a Tippecanoe County court in early December, names as defendants Jared Olivetti and his wife, Lisa, as well as Immanuel Reformed Presbyterian Church and the Trustees of the Synod of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America. The Synod is the highest governing body in the denomination.

(January 9) Former MN Pastor Sentenced For Molesting Teen; Survivor Confronts Denomination For Supporting Abuser

The former assistant pastor of a rural Minnesota church will spend about a month in jail after pleading guilty to molesting a girl in his youth group.

Sean Patrick Masopust, 33, was sentenced Thursday to 30 days’ confinement and 10 years of probation after pleading guilty to criminal sexual conduct, a fourth-degree felony.

(January 9) Priest Who Served In Diocese Of Charleston Charged With Sexual Abuse Of 11-Year-Old Girl 

Father Jaime Adolfo Gonzalez-Farias, a visiting priest from Chile who served in the Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina, has been arrested in Florida and charged with sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl in 2020.

Gonzalez-Farias, from the Diocese of San Bernardo, Chile, was arraigned this afternoon in federal court for the district of South Carolina.

Concord woman faces stalking, assault, and bail charges; teen cited for liquor possession; nodding off leads to meth, fentanyl charges.

Lindsay Dawn Compagna, born 1981, of Concord received a summons at 10 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2022, on a theft by unauthorized taking, less than $1,000, charge after an incident at Hannaford on Fort Eddy Road.

(January 8) South Carolina Priest Charged With Federal Sex Crimes

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina priest who served in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston has been charged with federal sex crimes stemming from allegations that he abused an 11-year-old child.

Jaime Adolfo Gonzalez-Farias, known in church as “Father Gonzalez,” was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Miami on Nov. 29, according to court records. A recently unsealed indictment shows Gonzalez-Farias, 68, was charged with aggravated sexual abuse of children, coercion of a minor and transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
