(January 27) Deputies Seek Public's Help After ATV, Other Items Stolen From Kanawha County Church |WV

Deputies are asking for the public’s help finding suspects accused of stealing an ATV and other items from a church storage building in Kanawha County.

The alleged theft was reported Monday night at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in the Elkview area, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.

Church officials told deputies that a garage belonging to the church had been broken into sometime between 11 p.m. Monday and 1 a.m. Tuesday, the news release said.

(January 26) Clearfield County Woman Faces Charges After Stealing Over $14,000 As Church Treasurer | Kylertown, PA

A Clearfield County woman who served as a church treasurer is facing 47 counts of theft for stealing over $14,000 from the church.

According to court documents and the State Police, 77-year-old Dorothy Lowe of Hawk Run is accused of gradually taking the money from the account of St. Laurence Episcopal Church in Osceola Mills over the past year.

(January 26) Guard Jailed 3 Months For Stealing Drums From Church

An area court in Gwagwalada in the FCT has sentenced a 22-year-old security guard, Ibrahim Abdullahi, to three months in prison for stealing drums and other musical instruments from the House of Truth Church in Kuje Area Council. 

The police charged Abdullahi with criminal trespass, mischief and theft, which he pleaded guilty to. The Judge, Malam Abdullahi Abdulkarim, convicted Abdullahi of criminal trespass and theft, while the offence of mischief was dismissed.

(January 25) Scammers Steal $793,000 In Online Scam, Halting Project For New Sanctuary | Elkin, NC

A Piedmont Triad church project is halted after an online scam left Elkin Valley Baptist Church out more than $793,000.

After years of waiting, the church had finally raised the funds for a new sanctuary to be built, and they broke ground back in September. However, the money to pay for that project was intercepted by cyber scammers through e-mail.

(January 25) Former Treasurer Accused Of Stealing $14,603 From Osceola Mills Church

The former treasurer of the St. Laurence Church in Osceola Mills is accused of stealing more than $14,000 from the church.

Dorothy Louise Lowe, 77, of Hawk Run, is charged with 47 counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property — felonies of the third degree.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Lowe was the treasurer of the church and she wrote a checks to herself on Feb. 18, 2022 for $2,000, and on Feb. 23, 2022 for $500.
