(January 20) Man Charged In Lincoln Park Church Burglary In Which At Least $9K Stolen | Chicago

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 27-year-old Chicago man has been charged after thousands of dollars were stolen from a Lincoln Park church last month. 

Hannibal Kerry was charged with burglary of a place of worship, criminal trespassing and possessing burglary tools, Chicago police said Thursday.

(January 19) Suspects Steal Catalytic Converter From Woman's Car In Madison County Church Parking Lot | Madison, IL 

A Meridianville woman has become the latest victim of a catalytic converter theft. Two suspects were seen on camera committing the brazen act in broad daylight while she was inside her church.

Kathy Barron was upset that this took place, and now, as she moves to replace her catalytic converter, it could cost at least $1,700.

(January 18) Church’s Stolen $1,500 Drum Kit Found Set Up In A Homeless Camp | Florida

An elaborate 10-piece drum kit stolen from the sanctuary of a Florida church was recovered in the most unexpected of places, when deputies searched a homeless camp, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

It was there they found the Pearl drum set had been reassembled for playing — in the woods, the sheriff’s office said in a Jan. 15 news release.

(January 18) Man Steals Tractor, Leads Boone Police On Pursuit | Boone, N.C.

BOONE, N.C. — Boone Police have taken a man into custody after he stole a tractor, then led police on a pursuit. While he was driving the tractor, he hit several vehicles, a dumpster, a church, and a Boone Police vehicle.

(January 17) Lesterville Church Accountant Sentenced To Prison For Embezzling Funds | Sioux Falls

The bookkeeper of a Lesterville, South Dakota, church was sentenced Tuesday to 21 months in federal prison for embezzling nearly $325,000 from two church parishes.

Steven Bares, 53, of Tabor, South Dakota, pleaded guilty in September in U.S. District Court in Sioux Falls to wire fraud. After completing his prison sentence, he must serve two years on supervised release. He also must pay restitution to the churches.
