(January 27) Spain Church Machete Attack Suspect Was 25-Year-Old Moroccan, Police Confirm | Spain

MADRID, Jan 26 (Reuters) - The suspect in a machete attack on two churches in southern Spain in which one clergyman was killed and another seriously injured is a 25-year-old Moroccan man who was due to be deported from the country, police said on Thursday.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday evening after a man wielding a machete attacked several people at the churches of San Isidro and Nuestra Senora de La Palma, around 300 metres (1,000 feet) apart, in the southern port city of Algeciras.

(January 26) Rain Destroys Houses, Churches, Schools In Ondo | Nigeria

Torrential rain that lasted for two hours on Tuesday wreaked havoc in Ipogun community in Ifedore LGA of Ondo State, destroying property worth millions of naira. 

The downpour, accompanied by a heavy storm, damaged several houses, shops, church buildings, electric poles, schools, and a part of the community’s health centre among others.

(January 26) Serial Armenian Church Car Burglar Nabbed By Paramus Detective: Police

A 64-year-old Ramsey man has been charged in a trio of car burglaries at an Armenian church in Paramus, authorities announced.

Garo Altunyan is accused of stealing $1,200 from a parked car at the Armenian Presbyterian Church on Forest Avenue on Dec. 27, 2022, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said.

(January 24) Longtime Canadian Church Therapist Sentenced On Sex Crime Charges | Canada

A former therapist linked to two churches in western Canada got a six-and-a-half-year cumulative prison sentence Friday on 11 sex crime charges, the Canadian prosecution team confirmed.

Raymond Gaglardi, 78, was sentenced on five counts of indecent assault, four counts of sexual assault, and two counts of sexual exploitation, British Columbia Prosecution Service spokesman Dan McLaughlin told The Roys Report (TRR).

(January 24) Fire Hits Aglipayan Church In QC | Philippines

Fire struck the Cathedral of the Crucified Lord of the Aglipayan Church in Quezon City on Monday morning. According to the Bureau of Fire Protection Fire District 5 Quezon City, the fire started from an informal settler residential area along Sampaguita Street, Barangay Apolonio Samson at 9:02 a.m. 

The fire was raised to first alarm before it was put out at 10:06 a.m.

No one was injured in the blaze but damage to property was estimated at P100,000. Initial investigation showed that the fire could have been caused by a faulty electrical service line.
