(June 29) Infant Death Tied To Followers Of Christ Church In Oregon City: Officials | Portland, OR

Clackamas County detectives are investigating the death of a newborn baby they say is associated with the Followers of Christ faith-healing church in Oregon City.

The church has been the focus of multiple KOIN 6 News investigations in the past.

The sheriff’s spokesman tells KOIN 6 the baby died Monday afternoon at a house on South Maywood Street, just outside of Oregon City. People arriving at the house refused to speak with KOIN 6 on Thursday.

(June 28) Woman Shot Following Funeral In Southeast DC, Metropolitan Police Say | Washington

A woman was shot following a funeral in southeast D.C., according to police. This is the third shooting connected to a funeral in recent months.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 4100 block of Alabama Ave. SE around 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28 for reports of a shooting.

According to reports, funeralgoers were coming out of New Macedonia Baptist Church when they heard the shots fired. At least one bullet went into the church building through the stained glass window.

(June 24) Body Of 18-Year-Old Shooting Victim Discovered In Church Parking Lot, Spalding County Sheriff Says | Spalding, GA

Authorities said on Friday at 2:40 a.m., deputies received reports of a shooting victim found lying in the parking lot of Sunnyside Baptist Church.

When deputies arrived, they identified 18-year-old Dallas Johnson as the victim. Officials confirmed he had succumbed to his injuries.

Officials have not specified what led to the shooting.

(June 24) Man Dies After Shooting In Meridian Church Parking lot | Meridian, MS

A shooting happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. Friday at the parking lot of First Baptist Church in Meridian.

One person was shot after allegedly trying to rob an off-duty law enforcement officer, who had his family with him, in the parking lot as they arrived at the church. The alleged robber died at a local hospital.

“The MBI (Mississippi Bureau of Investigation) is investigating and the Meridian Police Department is investigating as far as an attempted carjacking,” said Sheriff Billy Sollie early Friday. “At some point in time, a gun was discharged by the off-duty deputy.”

Vacation Bible School graduation was to be held but was cancelled. The area was secured and the people inside the church were not in danger.

(June 23) Milwaukee police arrest 15-year-old suspect in Juneteenth shooting that injured 6 | Madison, WI

Officers arrested a 15-year-old boy they now believe was the lone gunman in a shooting after a Juneteenth celebration that left six people wounded, Milwaukee police said Thursday.

The boy is the third person arrested in the shooting Monday outside the Greater Philadelphia Church of God in Christ. Police provided no information about the 15-year-old suspect, including why they now believe he was the lone shooter.

Two males ages 17 and 19 were arrested after the shooting, police said. Both of them had been shot. Police previously believed one of them had fired a weapon, but clarified Thursday that this is no longer the case.
