(October 12) Spanish-Language Church Service Interrupted By Stray Bullet, Hitting 11-Year-Old Boy In Arm

A boy was wounded in the arm when gunshots interrupted the evening worship service at a southeast Houston church.

Houston police officers responded to a shooting call just after 8 p.m. Wednesday on Glenbrook United Methodist Church's property on Glen Valley Drive and Wilmerdean Street.

There was some confusion, though. The injured boy was actually part of Centro Cristiano Pentecostal, a small Hispanic congregation.

Centro Cristiano leases a building from Glenbrook United Methodist Baptist Church for services.

(October 12) Florida Teen Accused of Plotting Mass Shooting at High School, 'Stabbing Spree' at Church, Police Say | FL

A Florida teen has been accused of plotting mass killings at a high school and church after he was stopped for a broken headlight, police said.

A 19-year-old in Florida is accused of plotting a mass shooting at his former high school and preparing for a "stabbing spree" at a Miami church, authorities said.

Henry Horton is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail on $1 million bail, according to online court records. He is charged with one felony count of making written threats to kill or do harm.

He has not entered a plea, according to online court records. His next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6.

(October 11) Atlanta police chief fires officer accused of fatally using stun gun on church deacon; officer to file appeal | Atlanta, GA

Atlanta’s police chief on Tuesday fired an officer involved in the death of a 62-year-old Black church deacon who was shocked with a Taser during a dispute over a traffic ticket.

Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said Officer Kiran Kimbrough didn’t follow department procedures on Aug. 10 when he failed to wait until a supervisor arrived to arrest Johnny Hollman Sr.
