(November 21) Fire Engulfs Mormon Church In Chevy Chase, Maryland | Chevy Chase, Md.

Firefighters are battling a large fire at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chevy Chase on Monday afternoon.

A call came in about a fire at the church just before 12:30 p.m. The church is located at 5460 Western Ave. in Chevy Chase at the border of Maryland and D.C.

Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service previously said at least one firefighter was injured while battling the blaze, but the fire department now says that no one was injured.

(November 21) Burglary And Vandalism Of Vacant Molino Church Under Investigation | Molino, FL

The burglary and vandalism of a vacant church in Molino is under investigation.

The owner of the building at 314 Molino Road discovered the burglary Monday.

According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, someone made entry into the building, discharged fire extinguishers and dumped cleaning chemicals they found inside. An outside flag pole was also broken, but nothing was stolen, according to the ECSO.

(November 20) Fire Causes $300k In Damage To La Mesa Church Community Center | La Mesa, San Diego

A fire caused about $300,000 in damage to a La Mesa church’s community center late Sunday before it could be extinguished, a fire official said.

The blaze started in vegetation near the La Mesa Adventist Church on Spring Garden Road and spread to the building, where it damaged the interior and exterior of the church’s community room, said Heartland Fire & Rescue spokesperson Andy McKellar.

Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the back of the building. In all, 18 firefighters from Heartland and the San Miguel Fire & Rescue departments responded, and it took about 25 minutes for crews to put out the flames.

(November 20) Authorities Probe Car Colliding With Presbyterian Church | Fremont, CA

The Fremont Police Department and Fremont Fire Department responded to a vehicle/building, personal-injury accident that occurred at about 1 a.m. Sunday at the Fremont Presbyterian Church.

Blake Wagner, the lieutenant on the B Shift for FFD, said crews were dispatched at about 1:15 a.m. Prior to fire personnel’s arrival, FPD had Jose G. Rodriguez, 19, of Fremont out of the vehicle. 

“After they had him extricated out of the car and secured away from it, the car started on fire,” he said. “It looks like the car – at a good rate of speed – didn’t make the turn and ran into the corner of the west entrance of the church.”
