(February 15) Roofers Sued For Church Damage | Gallitzin, PA

A New York-based insurance company has filed a federal lawsuit against two contractors who, it claims, failed to properly cover a hole in the roof of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, despite warnings of a rainstorm that occurred in September 2021.

The storm that ensued did major damage to the church, and the Westchester Surplus Lines Insurance Co. is seeking to recoup the cost of repairs, which it stated in the lawsuit amounted to $1,425,665.

(February 14) Teens Accused Of Crashing The Stolen Car, Killing 71-Year-Old Man | Cook County, IL

Police in Illinois says three teenage boys in a stolen car were involved in a crash that killed a 71-year-old man. 

Witnesses say the 71-year-old victim was leaving a church parking lot Sunday in Robbins, which is a village in metropolitan Chicago, when the teens, all 13, in a late-model Kia struck his Ford Taurus.

The victim was pulled from the car and taken to the hospital, where he died.

(February 13) Fire Destroys Historic Mt. Pisgah Church Buildings In Greene County | Greene County, MS

Two buildings are completely gone after a fire at Mt. Pisgah United Pentecostal Church in Greene County.

The fire broke out Friday evening while six members were inside preparing for an upcoming youth rally. The pastor’s eight-year-old son saw the smoke from an office and quickly alerted the group to get out of the buildings.

(February 11) Church Leaders Ponder Options After Steeple Crashes To Ground During High Winds | Galloway, OH 

Some Central Ohioans are dealing with the fallout after high winds caused power outages and other headaches Thursday. 

The Columbia Heights United Methodist Church said its steeple came crashing down just before 5 p.m. The entire structure is about 101 feet tall.

"It basically snapped the top portion of the steeple off," Columbia Heights Methodist Church congregant Doug Moshier said.

A tornado outbreak unfolded in Northeastern Louisiana on Wednesday. Local reports said that tornado caused damage to the parish church, three injuries and downed trees.

Louisiana is no stranger to tornado outbreaks.

Last year, violent twisters pounded the region, including Mississippi and Alabama.
